Awareness - Mixed Media Layout

Hello everyone!

Today I would like to present you one more project with which I’m entering the Annual Prima DTCall.  #PrimaDTCall

This time I drew my inspiration from some very popular female portraits.

As you all know, they were created by the famous and very talented artist Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988). He found the face of operatic soprano Lina Cavalieri, in a 19th-century magazine, and created over 500 variations of her face!

By looking at them, I realized that combining some of the portraits together, one can create a whole story.

That is how I created this mixed media layout.

It measures 12” x 12” and I used a piece of design paper from my stash to make it.

As for the process, I began by stamping and heat embossing with Finnabair Old Town stamps. I also used some pieces of chipboard which I also embossed with copper powder.

I applied white crackle paste through a stencil with floral design in order to create the tree’s foliage. I placed the chipboard pieces on the wet paste, in the middle of my composition, to create the tree’s trunk and a base for my photos to sit on.

I did some more background stamping with archival ink and painted the whole layout by creating layers with Distress Oxides, Paper Artsy Infusions and Prima Metallic Accents.

Believe me they work together so great! Some attention is needed between layers though, because both Distress Oxides and Infusions are reactivated with water.

I used some acrylic paint to define the shape of the tree. Finally, I refined my shadowing with Faber Castell Pitt Artist Big Brush pens.
I embellished the photos with lots of Prima Flowers from different collections and Prima Paper Butterflies.

The quote is a piece of wisdom from the famous Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu.
wrote it with a purple glitter gel pen.

I hope you like it!

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Until next time
