Wandering Soul

Hello everyone!

Today I would like to share with you my “Wandering Soul”.

This is a project inspired by the mystical, cold silence of the snow. The figure of a lone beast wandering in the white land. The feeling that an old soul is hidden in the shadows of the frozen woods.

I worked on 300gsm mixed media paper that measures 8 1/4 x 11 inches. First, I applied a layer of Decoart Media Crackle Paste on the bottom half of my page. On the upper half, I applied Finnabair Snowflake Paste through Prima stencil Wood Textures#1.

Dried well and then gave the whole page a coat of watered Finnabair Heavy Gesso White. While the white gesso was still wet, I brushed some Decoart Media Black Gesso on the top edge and sprayed with lots of water to create a dripping effect.

While everything still wet, I sprinkled some Finnabair Mica Powder Blue Opal Magic all over the page. Sprayed a bit more water to activate the mica and then dried my page very well with a heat gun. I used a mixture of Media Fluid Acrylics Paynes Grey, Prussian Blue and Raw Umber to create the trees. With a palette knife I lightly applied some Finnabair Acrylic Paint Metallique Gold Rush. I painted my wolf with Media Fluid Acrylics Paynes Grey, Raw Umber, Prussian Blue, Transparent Yellow Iron Oxide, Hansa Yellow Medium and Titan Buff

Also used some Titanium White to highlight some areas of the snow. Heat set everything and sealed with Americana Mat Acrylic Sealer.

I really ejoyed creating this piece and I hope you like it too!

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Until next time,
